Eighty Seven Days

In 1967 Yvonne Paul, a Dutch citizen of Armenian descent, was deported from the USA under mysterious circumstances after nine years of living there. From the information available to us now, it seems that the reason behind the deporation was the lack of the valid residence permit. Upon arrival to Schiphol airport in Amsterdam, she refused to leave, presumably hoping to get a permission to get back to the US. Yvonne spent 87 days, almost 3 months in total at the airport, sleeping on the coach in the waiting area.'Eighty Seven Days' is an ongoing research project, looking into the evolution of public space. This publication is a first step into the investigation. By looking at the selection of archieval imagery of this event and categorizing it according to various perspectives (media, authority, observers), this book is a visual non-linear subjective investigation into the Yvonne's world throughout these 87 days at Schiphol.
